About EMDR in Beccles Bungay and Online
Repeated studies show that by using EMDR therapy, people can experience the benefits of psychotherapy that once took years to make a difference.
EMDR can help you with:
High anxiety
Lack of motivation
Depression
Memories of a traumatic experience
Unrealistic feelings of guilt and shame
Fear of being alone
Difficulty in trusting others
Relationship problems.
EMDR works by stimulating the left and right sides of your brain.
EMDR uses various techniques that may include, following the therapists fingers back and forth with the eyes, tapping on the hands or listening to left and right audio beats.
You will spend some time talking to the therapist about your background and will also develop in your mind, with the help of the therapist, a safe place.
It is not possible to say how many sessions you would need before the benefits are felt, it can be as little as one but is generally more.
The therapist is trained to guide you through and keep you safe throughout the whole process.
Each session is approximately one hour. It can be helpful but not necessary to have sessions a week apart, although you may prefer to have them just days apart.
I have been trained in EMDR and coaching, parts 1, 2 and 3 by The EMDR Centre London.
